Character & Scholarship Since 2010
A co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 11 to 18, in the heart of Cheltenham.
Every Child Known. Every Child Encouraged.
The Great Duke Education is a day and boarding school in the heart of Cheltenham, where high expectations sit alongside real kindness.
Our pupils are taught to think carefully, speak well and act with integrity. Small classes, a personal tutor for every child and boarding houses that feel like family mean nobody slips through the gaps.
We want every young person to leave us ready to lead a good life: knowledgeable, confident, and kind to the people around them.

A School That Is Also a Home
Boarding is at the heart of The Great Duke. Our houses are warm, well run and full of life, and every boarder is cared for by people who know them well.
Each house is led by resident houseparents, supported by tutors, matrons and a health centre team. Evenings have a rhythm of supervised study, activities and time with friends; weekends bring trips, sport and proper rest.
Families choose the pattern that suits them: full boarding, weekly boarding with weekends at home, or flexi boarding for a few nights a week.
Seven Years, One Journey
From the first morning in Year 7 to the last day of the Upper Sixth, each stage builds on the one before.
A broad, rigorous curriculum from Year 7 to GCSE, taught in small classes by subject specialists.
A Levels, independent research and leadership, with expert guidance on university and beyond.
Sport, music, drama, clubs and service: more than [NUMBER] activities across the week.
Named for the Great Duke
"The Great Duke" was the popular title of the Duke of Wellington, who famously took the spa waters in Cheltenham. Our name ties the school to the town's Regency heritage, and to duty, leadership and steady character.
The coronet in our emblem stands for that leadership; the open book beneath it for learning. Together they say what we do: character and scholarship, side by side.
