A Day in the Life

Every boarder's day has a reassuring rhythm: busy, sociable and structured, with time set aside for study, activity and rest.

A Typical Weekday

Times are a guide and vary slightly by year group and term.

  1. 7.00am

    Wake Up

    Houseparents and matrons start the day. Rooms tidied, beds made.

  2. 7.30am

    Breakfast

    A full cooked and continental breakfast in the dining hall with the whole house.

  3. 8.20am

    Tutor Time

    Registration and a check-in with your tutor before lessons begin.

  4. 8.40am

    Lessons

    Morning lessons, with a break for a snack and fresh air.

  5. 12.50pm

    Lunch

    Lunch with boarders and day pupils together, then clubs, rehearsals or a quiet moment.

  6. 2.00pm

    Lessons and Games

    Afternoon lessons, with games and sport on set afternoons.

  7. 4.15pm

    Activities

    Clubs, matches, music lessons, drama and the activities programme.

  8. 6.00pm

    Supper

    Supper in the dining hall, then back to house.

  9. 7.00pm

    Prep

    Supervised evening study, with staff on hand to help.

  10. 8.30pm

    Free Time

    Common rooms, phone calls home, house activities and time with friends.

  11. 9.15pm–10.30pm

    Bedtime

    Lights out by year group, younger boarders first.
