International Pupils

Pupils from overseas bring a great deal to our community, and we take great care to help them settle, succeed and feel at home.

A Home from Home

International pupils board in the same houses as British pupils, so friendships form across cultures from the first day.

Houseparents are experienced in caring for pupils far from home, and keep in close contact with families across time zones. Festivals from around the world are celebrated in houses and the dining hall, and pupils can keep up their own languages and traditions while they improve their English.

Applying from Overseas

The process is the same as for UK families, with assessments taken online or at an approved centre and interviews by video call. We accept school reports in English or with certified translations.

English Language

Applicants whose first language is not English take an English assessment. Specialist EAL teaching is available in school. More About EAL.

Visas

Pupils who need a visa to study in the UK will need a Child Student visa. The school's status as a licensed student sponsor is [to be confirmed]. Our admissions team will explain the process once an offer is accepted.

Guardianship

All boarders whose parents live overseas must have an approved UK guardian who lives within reach of Cheltenham. We can recommend accredited guardianship organisations.

Travel

Cheltenham is well connected to Heathrow, Birmingham and Bristol airports. Escorted transfers can be arranged at the start and end of each term and holiday.

Staying in Touch

Regular reports, termly updates from houseparents, and parents' evenings held online at times that work across time zones.
